FIRST NATIONS
Ngarla Country
Our commitment to establishing, fostering and nurturing our relationship with First Nations people have underpinned our businesses’ ability to grow and thrive. It is one of Pardoo’s cornerstone company values.
Pardoo Wagyu has, since its commencement, have been working with the Ngarla people, who are the Traditional Owners of the land on which Pardoo Station is situated. This approach has seen Pardoo entering into numerous collaborative agreements with the Wanparta Aboriginal Corporation (RNTBC), delivering mutually beneficial outcomes for all parties.
Bunuba Country
Pardoo Wagyu Corporation has worked with the Bunuba People through commercial agreements and sponsorships for its respective events (including the Yajilarra Festival) over the years.
When Pardoo Wagyu sought to branch out its operations into the Kimberley, it sought to consult the Bunuba People, the traditional owners of the land, to seek their in-principle support for its proposed expansion plans. After two years of negotiating, Pardoo Wagyu and the Bunuba People, agreed on a long-term lease arrangement in 2021.
A testament to a successful partnership, Pardoo Wagyu Corporation is currently in discussions with the Bunuba people to lease additional country.
Mowanjum Community
Since 2016, Pardoo Wagyu Corporation has been working with the Mowanjum Community, through an agistment agreement, for some 1000 cattle. Pardoo are responsible for the overall management and operations of its cattle programme at the property.
SUSTAINABILITY
IRRIGATION
Our centre pivot irrigators operate under natural pressure from the artesian Wallal Aquifer of the West Canning Basin, thereby relying on virtually no fossil fuels to bring this pristine water to ground level.
CARBON MANAGEMENT
Soil Carbon
Pardoo Wagyu Corporation (PWC) have commenced a soil carbon project with Agriprove, Australia’s leading soil carbon developer, providing the technology, tools, and insights to enhance soil health and increase productivity.
Carbon and Methane Reduction
PWC participate in an initiative led by the National Australia Bank (NAB) to investigate the use of asparagopsis from seaweed into the feed of a small group of cattle at our feedlot and evaluate results in terms of carbon and methane reduction.
Pastoral Management
PWC’s operations across Western Australia are focused on pastoral management, proactively engaging with Local, State and Federal levels of government to ensure the optimal land management practices are in place.
